Ang Youth Voices Action (YVA) ay nag-aayos ng YouthFest, isang pagdiriwang ng kabataan na naglalayong ipakita ang mga talento ng mga kabataan sa komunidad. Ang kaganapan ay magaganap sa Mayo 25 sa Historic Village sa Youth Week. Ang YVA, dating kilala bilang Tauranga Youth Development Team, ay nakatuon sa pagpapalakas ng mga batang tinig at gawing mas kinatawan ang mga komunidad.

Ipinaliwanag ni Erika Harvey, ang pangkalahatang tagapamahala ng YVA, na ang samahan ay mayroong isang Youth Advisory Panel na huhubog ang mga inisyatibo nito. Ang 2024 Youth Embassador ay si Gabrielle Stimpson, isang 15 taong gulang mula sa Otumoetai College. Naniniwala si Stimpson na ang YVA ay nagbibigay sa mga kabataan ng pagkakataong magtrabaho sa iba’t ibang tao at gumawa ng pagkakaiba sa mga kabataan.

Hinihikayat ng YVA ang mga kabataan na ibahagi ang kanilang mga opinyon at ipahayag ang kanilang damdamin tungkol sa sistemang nais nilang baguhin. Nilalayon nilang magbigay ng ligtas na kapaligiran para sa mga kabataan upang talakayin ang kanilang mga isyu at potensyal na solusyon. Binibigyang diin ni Stimpson na ang YVA ay tungkol sa pagtiyak na naririnig ang mga kabataan at mayroon silang pagkakataon na magbigay ng puna at gumawa ng inisyatiba sa mga isyu na pinagmamalasakit nila.

Natututo ang mga miyembro ng YVA na makipagkompromiso sa pagitan ng mga opinyon at gumawa ng mga solusyon Itinatampok ni Erika Harvey na natututo ang mga kalahok na makahanap ng karaniwang lugar at makipagtulungan sa mga maaaring hindi nila karaniwang pipiliin bilang mga kaibigan.

Itatampok ang YouthFest ng mga banda ng kabataan, mga batang negosyante na nagpapakita ng kanilang mga produkto, at marami pa. Ang kaganapan ay hindi lamang isang pagdiriwang, kundi isang pagkakataon din para sa mga kabataan na tuklasin ang kanilang mga interes, palakasin ang kanilang kumpiyansa, at magsaya sa isang ligtas na puwang. Ang YVA ay naghahanap ng mga sponsor mula sa mga lokal na negosyo para sa kaganapan.

Nag-aayos din ng YVA ang iba pang mga kaganapan tulad ng 100% Summer, Jammin’ in the Park, at FluroFest, na ginaganap taun-taon sa linggo ng kamalayan sa kalusugan ng kaisipan. Tinutugunan din ng samahan ang mga isyung pampulitika. Halimbawa, nais ni Ara, isang 19-taong-gulang na miyembro ng Youth Panel, na makita ang mga pagbabago sa pambatasan sa mga mabilis na kaso ng pang-aabuso laban sa mga kabataan.

Ang pagiging bahagi ng YVA ay nag-aalok ng mga pagkakataon upang makisali sa mga kaganapan, makakuha ng karanasan sa boluntaryo, makipagtulungan sa iba’t ibang mga organisasyon at tao, alamin kung paano magbigay ng pormal na feedback, at gumawa ng pagkakaiba. Ang samahan ay kasalukuyang naghahanap ng mga sponsor ng korporasyon at pagpopondo para sa YouthFest.
