Sinimulan ng mga Ministro ng Agrikultura ng Pamahalaan ang isang paglilibot sa buong bansa, na nagsisimula sa Wairarapa ngayon, Abril 8. Nilalayon ng paglilibot na kumonekta sa mga magsasaka na nakikipaglaban sa mataas na rate ng implasyon, mataas na rate ng interes, masamang panahon, at tumataas na gastos sa bukid sa mga nakaraang taon.

Sinabi ng Ministro ng Agrikultura na si Todd McClay na ang agarang pagtuon ng gobyerno ay upang mapawi ang presyon na nararanasan ng mga magsasaka dahil sa hamon na patakaran ng sentral na pamahalaan Ito ang dahilan para sa paglilibot, upang marinig nang direkta mula sa mga magsasaka mismo. Binigyang-diin ni McClay ang kahalagahan ng sektor ng agrikultura, na nag-aambag ng higit sa 80% ng mga pag-export ng kalakal ng New Zealand at nagpapakain ng tinatayang 40 milyong tao sa buong mundo

Itinatampok ng Associate Agriculture Minister na Hoggard ang pangangailangan na tugunan ang hindi magagawa at labis na detalyadong mga regulasyon, upang ang mga magsasaka ay maaaring tumuon sa pagiging mahusay na mga tagagawa ng pagkain at Magbibigay ang paglilibot ng pagkakataon upang talakayin ang mga isyu na pinaka nakakaapekto sa mga magsasaka

Ang Associate Agriculture and Rural Communities Minister na si Mark Patterson, na responsable para sa lana, ay nakikipagtulungan sa mga magsasaka upang palakasin ang industriya ng lana. Nabanggit niya ang mga paghihirap na kinakaharap ng mga magsasaka ng tupa dahil sa labis na supply ng tupa ng Australia sa merkado, na nagpapababa ng mga presyo.
