More than 20,000 contacts in the Auckland outbreak have now been identified, Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield has confirmed.
Dr Bloomfield said more than 12,000 of them have been contacted, and 62 percent have returned a test result.
He says there will be more than 1200 contact tracers in call centres around the country over the next few days.
The country remains at lock down level four. Everyone must:
Stay at home in your bubble, other than for essential personal movement.
If you live alone, you may arrange with another person living alone or a household to be part of your household bubble. This arrangement must be exclusive between you and the other household.
Safe recreational activity is allowed in your local area.
Travel is severely limited.
All gatherings are cancelled and all public facilities close.
Businesses close except for essential services, for example, supermarkets, pharmacies, clinics, petrol stations and lifeline utilities.
Educational facilities close.
Rationing of supplies and requisitioning of facilities possible.
Reprioritisation of healthcare services is possible.
You legally must wear a face covering on public transport and flights, and if you are a customer or an employee involving customer contact at an Alert Level 4 business or service. You are encouraged to wear a face covering whenever you leave the house.
