Covid-19 elimination is possible but that does not mean New Zealand will necessarily get to zero cases, the Director-General of Health, Dr. Bloomfield says.
Daily cases have been bouncing around in the 20s and teens for the past week and have yet to fall below 10.
Bloomfield said he doesn’t think a level 1 scenario with Delta necessarily means a series of zero cases. He said now that they were on top of the outbreak, health officials were aiming to get the vaccination rate over 90 percent.
The Covid19 Delta Variant rapidly spread around the world, and is the dominant mutation of the Covid19 virus. The two countries to try and have success with eliminating the Deta strain are New Zealand and China, both using hard lockdowns of their populations to control the spread of the virus.
