Get ready for a fun-filled summer in Western Bay with a range of exciting events for the whole family. From fairs and concerts to food and wine festivals, beach scavenger hunts, and agricultural shows, there’s something for everyone. Rebecca Chambers, the Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s events specialist, encourages locals and visitors to participate and enjoy the summer events.
Waihī Beach is hosting several events, starting with the annual Gypsy Fair from December 27 to 29. The fair, which has been running for over 30 years, features unique stalls, cool vehicles, and great entertainment. The Extravaganza Fair, a sustainable event powered by solar energy, will take place from December 31 to January 2. It will feature arts and crafts, kids games, circus acts, live music, and delicious food.
Katikati, known for its summer fruits, will start its New Year events with the Katikati Twilight Concert on January 6. The concert will feature the NZ Eagles Tribute band and the Katikati Jazz Band. The Katikati Avocado Food & Wine Festival will take place on January 13, featuring live music from The Black Seeds, Midnight Fizz, and Jacob Scott.
Te Puna will host the Wander Dogs Walks Series on February 3, a guided walk for dog owners. Te Puke will hold an agricultural show on February 10, featuring activities such as fencing, tractor pulling, and gumboot throwing.
