Music is a big part of the Tie family’s life in Tauranga. Many members of the family, including parents, aunts, uncles and cousins, have musical talents. They enjoy playing various instruments and singing.
This Saturday, June 29, three young members of the Tie family will showcase their talents at a concert in Tauranga City. The concert will be hosted by the Youth Philharmonic Tauranga and Bay of Plenty Symphonia. Enoch Tie, 16, along with his younger siblings Elisha, 12, and Ephraim, 14, will perform at the Holy Trinity Church.
All three siblings, who are students at Bethlehem College, grew up surrounded by music. They can play a variety of instruments and are excited to perform in the concert titled ‘Young@Heart 2: Renewal’.
Ephraim, who plays the violin, is particularly excited about performing ‘Shostakovich Symphony No. 5’. Elisha, another violinist, is looking forward to playing ‘Jupiter-Bringer of Jollity’ from The Planets, a piece that includes brass and percussion instruments.
Enoch, who plays the flute and won the BOPS Rising Stars competition last year, said that music has always been a significant part of his life. He enjoys performing with other young musicians in the Youth Philharmonic Tauranga and appreciates the challenges presented by the Bay of Plenty Symphonia. He is particularly excited about performing Ralph Vaughan Williams’ ‘Wasps Overture’.
The concert will start at 3pm at the Holy Trinity Church on Devonport Rd. Tickets cost $15 for adults, while those under 18 can attend for free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.eventfinda.co.nz, by calling 0800 BUY TIX (289 849), or at the isite on The Strand. Tickets will also be available at the door.
