The government and Air New Zealand have agreed to manage bookings of air tickets to travel to New Zealand. The government wants to ensure that New Zealanders arriving home can be safely placed in a controlled isolation or quarantine facility.
People who had already booked flights with Air New Zealand would still be able to enter New Zealand subject to availability of quarantine space.
As of 7th July, there are almost 6000 people in the country’s 28 managed isolation facilities. Currently, the government can accommodate 450 new arrivals per day. New facilities are being established to handle an increase in international arrivals.
