Cafe Culture
Cafés can be found in nearly every city and town. New Zealand also ranks as the 13th largest coffee consumer in the world, ahead of the U.S. and Australia. And, has more roasters per capita than any other country in the world.
While there are a few chain cafes such as Starbucks, most kiwis will choose to frequent independent cafes.
New Zealand’s coffee culture followed that of Italy, with flavourful and robust espresso. Filtered or drip coffee is very uncommon in New Zealand.
