About the Royal Whanganui Opera House
The Royal Whanganui Opera House is New Zealand’s last Victorian theatre. It opened in 1900 and is renowned nationally and internationally for its architecture and acoustics. The Royal Whanganui Opera House offers tours of the building to groups by donation.
Facilities
The theatre seats 800 patrons. The venue is equipped with audio visual equipment and the technical lead and team are available to assist with set-up and technical advice. Pre-show and intermission refreshments are provided in the upper bar area, and there are roaming ice-cream sellers to sweeten your theatre experience.
