A major state housing development that aims to create a village-like community in Hamilton’s south has been granted resource consent.
The 47-home project will be built on a 26,000㎡ block of land leased from Waikato-Tainui.
The Collins Rd project in Melville was unveiled in April, 2021 and is the latest in a series of major state housing builds earmarked for the city. In August, Kāinga Ora was granted resource consent to build 60 two-storey homes and apartments in Flagstaff.
Earthworks at the site are expected to start at the end of 2022. The dwellings are due to be completed in 2024.
