The Welcome Swallow Gallery in Hamilton will host a special private function on October 15 to reveal a portrait of Lady June Hillary by Otorohanga artist Rebecca Dowman-Ngapo.
Lady Hillary is the wife of New Zealand great, Edmund Hillary, who is famous for being one of the first mountaineers to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
The portrait will be displayed in Hamilton and then will be relocated to Auckland Museum and entered into the national archive as part of the Hillary Collection.
The unveiling, which had to be postponed from August, will mark the completion of what has been dubbed the Sir Edmund Hillary Centenary Year as on July 2019, he would have turned 100.
