Police are investigating a murder after a courier driver was shot in Pakuranga Heights, Auckland, on Monday morning. The gunshots were heard around 6:45 AM on Marvon Downs Ave. A man was found in a car at the corner of Marvon Downs Ave and Pixie Place, but he died at the scene.
Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers from Counties Manukau CIB stated the investigation is just beginning. He assured the community that there will be more police in the area in the coming days as they gather information about the shooting and the shooter.
Vickers mentioned that they are speaking with witnesses and are eager to hear from anyone who has not yet come forward. A post-mortem examination will be conducted soon to formally identify the victim.
Local resident Michael described hearing the gunshots as he entered his lounge. He said, “I heard ‘crack crack crack.’” He also noted that a police helicopter arrived shortly after the shots were fired, expressing that nobody wants violent events like this to occur and everyone wants to feel safe.
