The holiday season is in full swing in Katikati, with the Upcycled Christmas Tree Display’s Opening Night set to dazzle the whole family on Thursday, December 14, from 7pm to 9pm.
The Upcycled Christmas Tree Competition entries, made by local businesses, daycares, rest homes, and individuals, will be showcased outside The Arts Junction in Katikati. The event will also feature live music, magical glow fairies, wandering entertainers, face painters, craft stalls, and food vendors.
The competition entries are competing for cash prizes, so make sure to vote for your favorite tree for the People’s Choice Award before December 18.
Santa’s Christmas Grotto, a magical wonderland, will also open its doors on the evening with festive displays from the Western Bay Library, Combined Churches, Katikati Theatre, Katikati Floral Art, Katikati Open Air Art, and Katch Katikati.
“Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate the holiday spirit under the starry skies and enjoy this very special night in Katikati,” says Katch Katikati events manager, Kirst O’Rourke.
The Grotto will stay open until December 28, during The Arts Junction’s regular hours, with Santa making guest appearances. To find out when Santa will be there, call Santa’s elves at 07 549 1658. The trees will stay on site, lighting up the evenings until December 24.
These events are hosted by Katch Katikati as part of the Katikati Christmas Series, with support from the Tauranga Western Bay Community Event Fund.
