Quaden Bayles, a 13-year-old boy who has achondroplasia, a common form of dwarfism, has been applauded for his role in the latest Mad Max movie, Furiosa. Quaden first gained attention when a video of him crying due to bullying went viral in 2020. The video led to an outpouring of support and eventually caught the attention of filmmaker George Miller, who invited Quaden to join the cast of Furiosa.
Quaden’s role in the movie was the War Pup, responsible for controlling deadly weapons in a dystopian wasteland. The young actor received praise from the cast and crew, and even hung out with stars like Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy at the film’s premiere. Miller has said he would happily work with Quaden again, describing him as one of the exceptional people he has met.
Despite the fame, Quaden has faced significant challenges. Following the viral video, a GoFundMe page was set up to send him to Disneyland. However, when the fundraising effort attracted trolls and false allegations of a scam, Quaden’s mother decided to decline the trip. The majority of the money raised was given to charities, with a small portion kept for Quaden.
Quaden’s mother, Yarraka, remains focused on the positives and is proud of her son’s achievements. She encourages him to be independent and make his own choices. Quaden is now considering a future in acting or comedy, but also has a backup plan to work in a power company like his father.
Despite the hardships he has faced, Quaden remains positive and determined. He has a simple message for others: “Just be kind.” He is grateful for his experiences and excited about his future in the film industry.
