The famous Herd of Cows street art display in Morrinsville now has its own digital experience. The outdoor exhibit, which began in 2015 with a few colorful fiberglass cows, has grown to a group of 60 and gained a loyal fan base.
The digital experience was created by Hamilton & Waikato Tourism, Morrinsville i-site, and Matamata-Piako District Council. It allows people worldwide to take a virtual tour of the cow display. This is the second digital experience introduced by Hamilton & Waikato Tourism to highlight various nature and heritage attractions in the region.
The first digital experience was an online tour of the Sir Edmund Hillary Walkway in Ōtorohanga, launched last year, which has been viewed over 1000 times.
Cathy Balvert, the Herd of Cows project coordinator and Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce chief executive, said the town is extremely excited to see its colorful herd enter the digital world. She said the exhibit has become a source of pride, representing the town’s agricultural heritage and thriving art scene.
Nicole Greenwell, Hamilton & Waikato Tourism chief executive, echoed Balvert’s excitement, saying she’s thrilled to present Morrinsville and its artistic community to a worldwide audience.
