Five community cases of the new Delta Covid variant have now been identified in Auckland, New Zealand.
Over 23 events and locations have been linked to the outbreak. At this stage all are in Auckland.
The Ministry of Health advise yesterday, Thursday, 17 August 2021, that a male resident of Auckland suburb, Devonport was the first person to test positive to in the latest outbreak.
Devonport is a suburb on Auckland’s North Shore.
The locations of interest where the man travelled to whilst infected include the Coromandel Peninsula and Auckland.
Since then, three more cases have been identified. The second case is a nurse at Auckland Hospital who is a close contact of the male’s Devonport home.
The other two cases are also close contacts of the male.
It is believed that the people concerned have contracted the new Delta Covid variant.
