The Waikato Museum will welcome an exhibition celebrating the works of iconic artist, Auguste Rodin.
Rodin was a French sculptor and is one of the world’s most renowned and influential artists.
He produced works which had a major influence on the development of modern art and produced some of the world’s most celebrated pieces including The Age of Bronze (1876), The Thinker (1880) and The Kiss (1882).
Instead of presenting his muse in idealised physical excellence, Rodin was one of the first sculptors to depict natural body language with a rough, sometimes unfinished surface as a symbol of movement.
His artworks are on display in a special exhibition called, Remembering Rodin Te Whakamahara ki a Rodin and is now open to the public at Waikato Museum in Hamilton .
We’re thrilled and privileged to host this exhibition in Hamilton so that visitors here can have the rare pleasure of seeing an iconic work by one of the world’s master sculptors,” museum director Cherie Meecham said.
The exhibition will run until December 6.
