The New Zealand Timber Museum
The NZ Timber Museum is located just south of Putāruru on State Highway 1. The museum offers an opportunity to see and touch the history of New Zealand’s timber industry in attractive rural surroundings.
The museum was established in 1927 to celebrate, record and preserve the history of the timber industry, particularly in the South Waikato District. Guided tours are offered with expert, knowledgeable staff.
Okoroire Hotel and Golf course
The Okoroire Hotel is a beautiful, hotel, restaurant and bar built in the 1880s. The hotel is nestled in eighty acres of park surroundings on the banks of the Waihou River. Boasting its own nine-hole golf course and hot pools, Okororie is an ideal centre for a golfing and relaxing break.
Golf
The towns of Tokoroa, Putaruru and Tirau all have 18 hole golf courses. All courses provide stunning scenery. Rounds of golf start from $15 per person.
