The Blue Spring at Te Waihou Walkway
Famed for its crystal clear water tined with a bright turquoise blue, the Te Waihou Walkway and Blue Spring is located in South Waikato near Putaruru. In fact, The Te Waihou Walkway is listed as one of South Waikato District Council’s must see local attractions.
The spring is fed from the Mamaku Plateau and water takes up to 100 years to filter through, producing pure and clean water with a beautiful blue hue. This water is so pure that around 60% of New Zealand’s bottled water comes from the spring.
Stroll alongside the Waihou River, through wetlands and across pastoral land through native bush to reach the famous Blue Spring. Eagle eyed walkers might glimpse trout or native birds and wildlife on their walk.
