크레이지 미드윈터 백야드 울트라 (Krayzie Midwinter Backyard Ultra) 는 토요일 오전 7시 30분에 크라이스트처치에서 시작되어 월요일 오전 2시 20분에 끝났습니다. 샘은 레이스 파트너를 꺾고 43바퀴를 완주하여 청소년 정신 건강 자선 단체인 I Am Hope를 위한 기금 마련을 통해 역사를 만들었습니다.

하지만 Harvey의 역사적인 승리는 처음부터 모든 것이 무너질 뻔한 상황에서 이루어지지 않았습니다.

뒷마당 울트라에서는 경쟁자들이 매시간 6.7km의 서킷을 연속으로 달려야 합니다.

“Sam의 업적은 놀랍습니다.그는 인간의 지구력, 마음, 몸의 한계를 재정의했습니다.모든 것이 불리하게 돌아가고 있다고 느껴질 때는 한 발짝 앞으로 나아가세요.” 라고 I Am Hope의 설립자 Mike King은 말합니다.

하비는 불과 10일 전 퀸즈랜드의 데드 카우 컬리 (Dead Cow Cully) 에 출전하여 I Am Hope를 위해 2만 달러를 모금하여 국제적인 관심을 끌었습니다.하지만 그는 아직 끝나지 않았고, 올해 말 미국 테네시에 있는 Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra에서 완공할 계획입니다.
