혹스베이 예술 커뮤니티를 지원하기 위한 현지 미술 전시회 기금 모금 행사를 주최한 타우랑가 측은 북섬 전역에서 쏟아지는 반응에 깜짝 놀랐다.

인큐베이터 디렉터 시몬 앤더슨 (Simone Anderson) 은 “기부하는 아티스트의 수는 우리의 예상을 훨씬 뛰어넘을 정도로 엄청납니다.” 라고 말합니다.

“베이오브플렌티뿐만 아니라 로토루아, 해밀턴, 오클랜드 등 더 먼 곳에서도 홍수로 피해를 입은 예술가들도 혹스베이에서 온 홍수 피해를 입은 예술가들도 작품을 팔아 다른 사람들을 후원하고 있습니다.

혹스베이 예술가 존 기즈번은 홍수와 실트로 인해 타라데일 포터리 컵과 와이오히키 아트 센터가 엄청난 피해를 입으면서 집, 작업실, 생계를 잃었습니다.

3월 17일 금요일 피플스 갤러리 토이 카 레레레에서 열리는 전시는 4월 10일까지 진행됩니다.

시몬은 아티스트가 판매한 자금을 혹스베이의 풀뿌리 예술 커뮤니티와 예술가들에게 배분하여 소모품과 장비를 보충하고 이들이 다시 일어서서 창의적인 마히를 이어갈 수 있도록 도울 것이라고 말합니다.

“기부 초대를 받은 지 일주일 후 아티스트의 수는 65명이었으며 계속 늘어나고 있습니다.”

그녀는 헤이스팅스가 뉴질랜드의 다른 예술 중심지를 탐험하기 위한 2022년 연례 팀 필드 트립의 목적지였다고 말합니다.

전시회에서 모금된 모든 자금은 혹스베이 아트 콜렉티브와 사이클론으로 피해를 입은 예술가들에게 직접 전달됩니다.
