Sixteen New Zealand bars and restaurants have been featured in the 50 Best Discovery list, an extension of the prestigious worldwide 50 Best Restaurants list.
The Kiwi entries include Amisfield in Central Otago, which also won Cuisine Good Food Awards 2022 Restaurant of the Year, Auckland fine-dining restaurant Pasture and multi-award-winning Wellington restaurant Hiakai.
Several New Zealand bars are also on the list, including Caretaker in Auckland, Hawthorn Lounge in Wellington and Christchurch’s The Last Word.
Introduced in 2019, the 50 Best Discovery list covers restaurants and bars that were liked by the judges of the 50 Best list, but did not achieve enough votes to make the top 50.
The Discovery list, which is unranked, contains 1600 restaurants and bars in 75 countries.
Geranium restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark, was named as best restaurant in the world in this year’s 50 Best list.
