Inihayag ng Ministro ng Kalusugan ng New Zealand, si Dr Shane Reti, na ang lahat ng mga residente sa bansa ay magkakaroon ngayon ng pantay na access sa mga PET-CT scan, anuman kung saan sila nakatira. Health New Zealand – Inaprubahan ng Te Whatu Ora ang pagpopondo para sa isang na-update na hanay ng mga pamantayan na magpapahintulot sa karagdagang 1,000 mga pampublikong pinopondohan ng PET-CT scan bawat taon.

Binigyang-diin ni Dr Reti na ito ay isang makabuluhang pag-unlad para sa mga maaaring maapektuhan ng cancer, dahil mahalaga ang pagtaas ng access sa diagnostic imaging. Ang mga PET-CT scan ay karaniwang ibinibigay ng pribadong sektor, na may maraming mga pasyente na tinutukoy at pinondohan ng Health New Zealand.
