Legendary 90s British band Oasis split up over 10 years ago, and despite the constant reunion rumours there seems no sign of a truce in one of music’s biggest beefs between band members, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher.
However, this hasn’t stopped one group of musicians from attempting to keep the Oasis flag flying using AI technology.
As reported by the Guardian, fed up with waiting for a possible Oasis reunion, members of British band Breezer have taken it upon themselves to make their own Oasis album using artificial intelligence.
The result, is a 30 minute, eight song mixtape done in the style of Oasis from their heyday between 1995 and 1997. The band name, AIsis. The lyrics and music were written and recorded by Breezer, but the Liam Gallagher-sounding vocals complete with trademark Liam “hellooooos” and “sun-shiiiines” were all created using AI.
Breezer singer Bobby Geraghty says to create the album called The Lost Tapes Volume I, they cut up various a cappella recordings of Liam to train AI to imitate his voice.
Although the vocals are 100% AI-generated, Geraghty says it is too soon to say whether AI could write a song from scratch in the style of an artist.
AI in music is quickly becoming a big issue, with an AI-produced song claiming to be Drake and The Weeknd pulled from streaming services last weekend.
On the question of whether Liam himself would like AIsis, Geraghty says “he’d absolutely hate it because it’s not him.
