The Mount Busking Festival is set to return on King’s Birthday weekend after a brief pause. The festival will take place on Maunganui Rd and will feature local performers. The event, which has been a staple in the community until 2019, is being revived by the Mount Business Association, also known as Mount Mainstreet.
Michael Clark, the Mainstreet destination manager, says the festival is open to everyone. He encourages locals and visitors to participate in the two-day event and enjoy the entertainment. The festival will run from 12pm-5pm on Sunday, June 2, and from 9am-12pm on Monday, June 3. Attendees can expect to see musicians and circus performances.
Performers will include The Hittmen, DJ Matt Bizzle, Louie Campbell, Finn Curtis, Josh Pow, and Bridget Morgan. Circus acts will feature ringmaster Rowan from Circus In A Flash, magician Steve London, and juggler Crazy Jase from Butler Circus Warehouse.
On Monday afternoon, there will be a workshop for kids hosted by Circus In A Flash. The workshop will teach children how to juggle, spin plates, use hula hoops, and more.
Performances will take place at five different locations, including Te Papa O Ngā Manu Porotakataka, Coronation Park, The Cruise Deck, and the corners of Grove and Maunganui Roads, and Pacific Ave and Maunganui Rd.
Michael Clark says the festival is a great way to support local artists and performers. He hopes it will become an annual event that everyone can enjoy. Attendees are encouraged to donate to their favorite performers either in cash or electronically using QR codes provided by The Buskers Project.
