A man who was caught drink-driving four times within five months has been warned that next time he will go to jail.
The 36-year-old from Napier was sentenced to nine months of home detention earlier this month. In response to his sentencing, he has written a letter of remorse and sold his car.
He was described by his friends as a “ functioning alcoholic”, who often drove under the influence of alcohol.
“If there is any further offending … there is absolutely nowhere to go except to jail. Do you understand that?” the judge said at his sentencing.
