New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, together with the Joy Wing Mau Fruit Technology Group and eight New Zealand fruit exporters, have launched a “Taste New Zealand” fruit gift box that is customised for the Chinese market.
The gift box contains over ten types of premium fruit, most of them varieties that have been developed in New Zealand and are exclusive to the country, including Jazz, Dazzle and Envy apples, Zespri Kiwifruit and PiqaBoo pears.
In 2021, New Zealand’s total fruit exports reached 1.04 million tonnes, of which exports to China accounted for 14.9% of this, ranking first. Around 94% of China’s imported kiwifruit and about 70% of imported apples come from New Zealand.
