The Rangiuru Business Park project is being built on 226 hectares of land near Te Puke and will receive $18m support from the PGF.
The funding will allow construction of an interchange connecting the industrial park with the nearby Tauranga Eastern Link road, which in turn connects with the Port of Tauranga.
The Rangiuru Business Park has been planned for ten years and when completed, it will be the Bay of Plenty’s largest consented green field industrial zone.
Rangiuru’s major backer, Quayside Properties, is welcoming the PGF grant.
Quayside’s chief executive Scott Hamilton says it marks a crucial step in the project.
“This funding creates confidence and will bring Rangiuru’s development forward, allowing small and Iwi landowners within the park to share in the opportunities it will create,” Mr Hamilton says.
The development is also ideally located to benefit regional business and communities.
“Rangiuru Business Park will connect the ‘Golden Triangle’ powerhouses of Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga with more economically and socially deprived regions.
“This will drive local economic growth and create job opportunities for local people,” he says.
“When it is finished, Rangiuru will provide businesses across the eastern and western Bay of Plenty unparalleled access to international markets through direct road and rail corridors to the Port of Tauranga.”
