      The port city of New Plymouth is the area's cultural and commercial hub. Taranaki's economy is diverse and includes dairy, oil and gas. The region is the highest contributor or national GDP per capita.

이주민 인식 조사는 이주민 공동체에 대한 전국적인 조사입니다. 이 설문 조사는 Eastern Bridge에서 매년 실시하고 있으며 20개 샘플 지역에서 중국, 일본, 한국, 베트남, 러시아 데이터를 수집합니다. 설문 목표는 이주자 공동체에 대한 인식을 높이고 지방 정부들로 하여금 이들이 이주민, 유학생, 해외 여행객들을 대하는 방식에 대한 이해를 높이기 위해서 입니다. 이에 참여하는 지자체들은 어떻게 하면 자신의 지역사회가 이주민들에게 더 선호받을 수 있는지에 대한 추천을 받습니다. 설문 조사에는 교육, 의료, 주거, 안전, 고용, 선호, 여행, 교통, 서비스, 엔터테인먼트 등 다양한 주제를 다룹니다.
