The Eastern Bay of Plenty ranks 68/100 in the annual Migrant Perceptions Survey, placing it within the top quarter of welcoming regions.
The Eastern Bay of Plenty has a large migrant worker population, compared to many regions of comparable sizes. Many migrant workers are employed within the horticulture, as well as in health and age care sectors.
The largest migrant populations are from China and India, with notable Japanese, Korean, Thai communities. There are several migrant owned businesses contributing to local employment.
The top reasons why Migrants want to live in the Eastern Bay of Plenty include:

The region is especially popular with migrants ages 18-30 and 65+, with retirees praising the golf courses, fishing and walking/cycling tracks.
