The South Waikato Library Service operates two full libraries in the district. The largest library is in Tokoroa, while the Putāruru Library is coupled with the Service Centre. Additionally, there is a library outreach program called LibraryLink operating from The Dog in Tīrau.

Fees
Membership is free for residents of the South Waikato District. However, those residing outside the area boundaries may join for a yearly subscription fee of $44.00. Replacement cards cost $3.00.
Services Available
As a library member, you can borrow from the Tokoroa and Putāruru library collections (and LibraryLink in Tīrau). The libraries offer a range of services including free access to computers, printing, photocopying, scanning, and free Wi-Fi. In addition, there is an extensive collection of books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines available for loan. Interlibrary loans are also available.
How to Join
You can join the South Waikato Library Service online or in-person at either the Tokoroa or Putāruru library. Please note that you will need to present ID to activate your membership. Children under 18 require parental or guardian consent, which acknowledges responsibility for all items borrowed and any charges incurred.
