왕실 소식통들이 브리티시 미러(the British Mirror)에 제공한 정보에 따르면 이번 순방에는 “우정정과 지원의 손길을 넓히는 것”을 목표로 2년간의 해외 여행이 포함될 것이라고 한다.
브리티시 미러는 뉴질랜드, 호주, 카리브해의 여러 영연방 국가들이 이번 순방의 최우선 순위라고 보도했다.

엘리자베스 여왕 서거 후 새로운 시대를 시작하면서 웨일즈 왕자와 왕세자비도 “주요한 지원 역할”을 맡을 것으로 보여진다.
국왕은 또한 영국과 해외에서 여러 차례 단독으로 순방할 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 카밀라 여왕도 개인 프로젝트에 더 많이 참여를 할 수 있다고 전했다.
왕실의 한 소식통은 브리티시 미러에 “왕과 그 가족은 재임 초기의 중요한 몇 달, 몇 년 동안을 성공적인 안착을 위해 보내고 싶어한다”고 말했다.

“국왕은 돌아가신 어머니로부터 오랫동안 지켜온 믿음에 대한 만트라를 이어받고 싶어하며, 가능한 한 많은 사람들을 만나고 싶어한다.”

1970년대에 엘리자베스 여왕은 재임 25주년을 기념하기 위해 52회의 영연방 방문과 21회의 다른 국가를 몰아쳐 순방했다. 찰스 국왕도 그만큼 많은 여행을 할 수 있을 것이라고 전했다.
국왕은 호주와 캐나다를 포함한 주요 영연방 국가를 “가능한 한 빨리” 방문하는 것에 대해 수석 고문들과 논의를 시작한 것으로 알려졌다.
그는 또한 자신이 왕으로 있는 14개국을 방문하는 것의 중요성을 제기했다.

이번 주 뉴 사우스 웨일즈(New South Wales) 주정부 관계자들은 호주 민주주의 200주년을 맞아 2024년에 “”매우 기대되는” 왕실 순방 계획을 밝혔다.
그러나 소식통들은 윌리엄 왕자와 케이트 왕세자비가 2023년 봄에 다운언더(Downunder)를 순방할 계획도 논의했다고 전했다.
