익명을 원하는 한 학생은 일요일 저녁 식사 후 200명이 넘는 학생들이 밤새 구토를 하거나 심한 설사를 했다고 말했습니다.그들은 아침 일찍 화장실에 길게 줄을 서 있는 모습을 묘사했습니다.

그날 저녁 메뉴에는 치킨 수블라키, 콩 소스를 곁들인 밥, 웨지가 포함되었습니다.일부 학생들은 화장실로 서둘러 가는 바람에 홀 창문에서 토사가 떨어지는 장면을 담은 비디오를 공유하기도 했습니다.

캔터베리 대학교의 시험 기간은 지난 화요일에 시작되었는데, 많은 학생들이 시험을 특별히 고려해 볼 수 있는지 알고 싶어했습니다.그러나 보고서에 따르면 대학은 비난을 피하기 위해 대학을 식중독이라고 부르던 것에서 위장염으로 바꾸었다고 합니다.일부 학생들은 몸이 아픈데도 시험에 반드시 참석해야 한다는 말을 들었습니다.

한 학생은 좌절감을 토로했다. 특히 저녁 식사를 거른 학생들은 아프지 않았기 때문에 이렇게 많은 학생들이 동시에 위장에 걸릴 가능성은 거의 없다고 말했다.

또 다른 학생은 질병으로 인한 혼란 때문에 시험을 그만뒀다고 말하면서 “힘든” 상황이었다고 말했습니다.

O’Flaherty는 질병으로 인해 시험을 놓친 학생들은 특별 배려를 신청할 수 있으며 앞으로 몇 주 안에 시험 일정을 조정할 수 있을 것이라고 언급했습니다.하지만 한 학생은 여행을 계획하고 있는데 대신 파생된 성적을 받길 원했기 때문에 이것이 불공평하다고 느꼈습니다.

유니버시티 홀에는 500명이 넘는 학생이 거주하고 있으며 UniLodge에서 관리합니다.학생들은 UniLodge에 연락하여 무료 전해질 음료, 생수, 도시락 식사와 같은 도움을 받으라는 권고를 받았습니다.

뉴질랜드 식품안전부 또한 상황을 조사하고 있습니다.빈센트 아버클 (Vincent Arbuckle) 부국장은 식품 및 비식품 공급원을 확인하는 등 발병 원인을 파악하기 위해 국립 공중보건국과 협력하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.홀의 케이터링 제공업체는 크라이스트처치 시의회에 등록되어 있습니다.
