오포티키의 하버 프로젝트가 지방 정부 상을 수상하다

20210/07/16(금) 저녁, 뉴질랜드 지방 정부는 Blenheim에서 2021 LGNZ EXCELLENCE Awards를 개최했다. 이 상은 지역사회의 안녕을 증진하고 성장시키기 위한 전국 지방회의의 뛰어난 업적을 인정하고 기념하는 상이다.
Opotiki 시의회의 프로젝트인 Opotiki Harbor Transformation Project는 경제성장에 대한 추가 투자를 위한 촉매적 자본으로서 Martin Jenkins EXCELLENCE Award for Economic Wellbeing의 수상자로 선정됐다. 또한 전체 지역 우수상 수상자로 선정되기도 했다.
Opotiki 시장 Lyn Riesterer는 최고 의원을 포함한 몇몇 의원들와 함께 시상식에 참석했다. Riesterer 시장은 이번 발표는 많은 뛰어난 프로젝트 중에서 선택된 절대적인 기쁨이자 특권이라고 말했다.
그는 “지역사회, 의회, Whakatōhea, 민간기업이 오랜 기간 동안 이 프로젝트를 위해 많은 노력을 해왔다. 중앙 정부와 Bay of Plenty 지역 의회의 재정 지원 덕분에 이런 규모의 성과를 거두고 지역 사회에 진정한 변화를 가져올 수 있었다”고 소감을 전했다.
“이 프로젝트는 시장 2명과 최고 경영자 2명, 그리고 20년 이상 이 비전을 위해 노력한 많은 협업, 대화, 열심히 일한 결과다. 이제 우리는 마침내 우리 사회의 변화와 경제 전망의 변화를 보게 됐다. 이 자리에 모인 많은 사람들, 특히 John Forbes와 Robert Edwards 그리고 그 세월 동안 많은 의원들의 비전 덕분이다. 이번 여정에 함께해 주시고 이 비전을 지지해 주신 우리 지역사회에 가장 큰 감사드린다”고 이어 말했다.
Riesterer 시장은 이번 시상식이 성공을 축하하고, 다른 일을 하고 있는 의회들을 인정하며, 또 의회간 이야기와 교훈을 나누는 기회라고 설명했다.
“어젯밤 우리와 함께 이 여정에 동참한 많은 사람들과 단체들이 있었다. 우리의 지방개발단 파트너, 지역 의회, 이웃 의회, Whakatōhea도 빼놓을 없다. 놀라운 저녁이었고, 이 일을 성사시킨 모든 분들께 감사드린다”고 다시 한 번 말했다.
