응아티 쿠리 부족과 테라라와 부족의 일원인 졸리 데이비스는 최근 로토루아에서 열린 최초의 롱고아 마오리 대회에 참석했다.ACC가 후원한 5월에 이틀간 열린 이 행사에는 전통 마오리 치유 요법인 롱고아 마오리 수련생과 의료 종사자 450여 명이 모였다.컨퍼런스의 목표는 뉴질랜드 보건 부문 내에서 관계를 구축하고 이 치유 방법에 대한 이해를 높이는 것이었습니다.

롱고아 마오리족의 ACC 전문가 자문 패널 중 한 명인 데이비스는 이번 행사에 대한 기대감을 표현했다.그녀는 참여한 모든 사람들이 지식을 공유하고, 서로에게서 배우고, 지역사회에 더 나은 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 방법을 모색할 수 있는 좋은 기회라고 말했다.그녀는 이번 컨퍼런스를 통해 롱고아 마오리족과 전통 치유의 이점에 대한 인식과 이해가 높아지기를 희망한다.

데이비스는 극북 출신으로 현재는 웰링턴에 거주하고 있으며, 마나와 오라 (Manawa Ora) 를 관리하고 있다.그녀는 전통적인 마오리 치유의 부활을 눈치챘다.롱고아 마오리족은 균형을 회복하고 질병과 건강상의 근본 원인을 찾아내는 것을 목표로 합니다.그녀는 더 많은 사람들이 롱고아 마오리족에 대해 배우고 접근하는 데 관심을 보이고 있다고 말했다.
