Our museum has a range of exhibitions and programmes to offer visitors a comprehensive view of the history and culture of Kawerau. Our permanent exhibitions include displays on the local logging industry, the development of the Kawerau township, and the Maori history of the area. We also have rotating exhibitions that showcase local artists, photographers, and historical collections. Our museum offers guided tours for visitors and school groups, and we have regular workshops and events for visitors of all ages.

Our facility features a range of pools and amenities to suit all ages and interests.

Pools and Amenities

Our 30m pool is divided by a bulkhead into a 25m pool and a 5m pool, and there are also two smaller pools designed for children. All pools have shaded areas for your comfort. The water is heated using geothermal steam, with temperatures ranging from 32 to 38 degrees Celsius during the winter season and from 28 to 31 degrees Celsius during summer. The 8m x 10m spa pool features controllable water jets, waterfall and seats for your relaxation, and is available year-round with winter temperatures ranging from 37 to 40 degrees Celsius. We also have a hoist available for the disabled or frail to enjoy the water. For children, we have a Splash Pad and a Jumping Pillow to add to their aquatic fun.

Recreational Areas

The whole complex is surrounded by large recreational and play areas with barbecue and picnic tables available for families and larger groups. It is an ideal location for a family picnic or a day out with friends.

Fees

Our fees are affordable, with $4 for children aged 5-16, $6 for students aged 17 and above, and $7 for adults aged 18 and above. Private hire of the whole pool complex is available throughout the year, except on Christmas Day and during public times. There are two gas barbecues available for hire, with fees of $5.50 for the small BBQ and $11 for the large BBQ. Please note that all bookings are subject to availability.
