Ministro para sa Diversity, Inclusion at Ethnic Communities Priyanca Radhakrishnan ay inaangkin na ang mga interes ng pamayanang etniko ay nanganganib kung ang isang ACT-pambansang koalisyon ay nanalo sa pangkalahatang halalan sa taong ito. Ang ministro ay tumutugon sa isang forum ng post-badyet para sa mga pamayanan ng etniko sa Auckland noong nakaraang linggo.

“Ang lahat ng mabuting gawaing ito na ginawa ng aking ministeryo, at ang pangkalahatang interes ng mga pamayanang etniko ay nasa ilalim ng banta kung may pagbabago sa gobyerno noong Oktubre. “Ipinahayag na ng ACT Party na nais nitong puksain ang Ministri ng Mga Komunidad ng Etniko. Sa Pambansang Partido na hindi pa tumayo dito, sa lahat ng posibilidad, ang kanilang koalisyon ay aalisin ang ministeryo kung sila ay dumating sa kapangyarihan.”

Ang ministro ay tumutukoy sa alternatibong badyet ng ACT, na nakabalangkas sa hangarin ng partido na puksain ang mga ministeryo ng demograpiko – kabilang ang Ministry of Diversity, Inclusion at Ethnic Communities. “Ang anumang karagdagang impluwensya na mayroon sila sa patakaran ng gobyerno ay malamang na nasa nakakapinsalang direksyon ng pagpapahina sa pagkakaisa ng New Zealand bilang isang modernong lipunan ng multikultural,”

Hiniling na magkomento sa mga pahayag ng ministro, ang pinuno ng ACT Party na si David Seymour ay nag-angkin na ang ministeryo ay hindi naihatid sa mga pangako nito. “Sa aking karanasan, gusto ng mga taga-New Zealand ang mga ligtas na kalye, abot-kayang pamumuhay at tratuhin nang may dignidad – hindi mga mamamayan ng pangalawang klase sa ilalim ng isang baluktot na Kasunduan. “Ang mga pamayanan ng etniko ay ihahatid nang mas mahusay sa ilalim ng panukala ng ACT”.
