Microsoft is checking reports about problems with its services in New Zealand. Services like Outlook, Azure, and Teams were not working for many users. DownDetector, a site that tracks internet issues, showed thousands of reports of problems across the country.
Parliamentary Services mentioned that the Parliament area had issues, likely due to a server problem. The police reported that they hadn’t received any emails since 8:20am. Email service came back around 10:15am. The issues started just before 8:30am on Thursday. By 9:45am, many users said the services were back to normal.
Microsoft posted on social media that they were looking into the access problems with their 365 services, including Exchange Online, for users in New Zealand. They later said they rerouted network traffic to improve service. They will keep watching the situation closely to find out why the problem happened.
Their next update was planned for around 11:30am (NZ time). This incident happened just a day after Microsoft faced a cyber-attack affecting services like Outlook and Minecraft. It also follows a major software issue that took down many computers using Microsoft Windows.
