Браун предложил использовать дамбу или несколько мостов от рифа Меола в мысе Шевалье до мыса Каури в Биркенхеде. Кроме того, он заявил, что строить мосты намного дешевле, чем туннели.
Он предложил соединить новый мост с государственной землей на северном побережье, которую можно было бы разделить для оплаты проекта. По оценкам Брауна, стоимость его плана строительства моста составит всего около 10% от стоимости туннеля, отметив, что мостам не понадобятся кондиционеры или специальные системы обдува.
Браун не назвал конкретных сроков строительства, но заверил, что на это уйдет меньше времени, чем ждать, пока правительство примет решение по строительству туннеля. Он сравнил ситуацию в Окленде с такими городами, как Лондон и Париж, и предположил, что новые мосты помогут сократить трафик за счет предоставления альтернативных маршрутов.
Отвечая на вопрос о том, как это скажется на местных дорогах, таких как Меола-роуд, Браун отметил, что работы на этих дорогах продолжаются, но заявил, что план строительства моста не потребует сноса дорог. Он пока не обсуждал этот план с министром транспорта Симеоном Брауном, но выразил уверенность в его предложении.
Браун также отметил, что ранее он говорил премьер-министру Кристоферу Луксону, что «провалит» проект строительства туннеля, считая, что это дорогостоящий и неудобный для правительства вариант. Он надеется, что компания Luxon поддержит его идею строительства моста.
